Sli Cards?

I want to get two 460s and sli them. Suggestions? I think they will rock out pretty well with my i5 2500k. What do you guys think, is that a good way to go. This will be my first time im SLI and im making my new computer. Here are my current specs.

i5 2500 k
MSI P67A-GD65 8 gig GSKILL DDR3
 
I have that motherboard and CPU combo, and it seems to go nicely with my 2 6850's. Or you can go with 2 460's, which is equally good.

Either way I'd say it's a solid choice.
 
Actually what I want is that I have 3 displays. Ive been reading that if I go with HD5850 I can have 3 displays. I only wanted to SLI or crossfire to get it to my three displays. Is that right thinking. This is the card im thinking of.

Yes, you're correct. With Nvidia you need 2 cards - besides the GTX460/2win or whatever it's called - and with AMD 1 card.

For running Eyefinity/Surround (gaming on >2 monitors) you'll probably want at least 2GB of memory.
Standard recommendation: HD 6950 2GB Ref

Though, I'm not sure if a single 6950(6970) will cut it at those resolutions.
At worst you'll have to sacrifice on settings or get a SLI/CFX setup.
 
I actually just want to do gaming on 1 moniter. I have another moniter to use when I have work to do. And the third moniter is my LCD tv. I just want to watch movies on that. So then I will go with the AMD card since I can have three displays. Any suggestions is the 5850 pretty bad ass card? It looks like it and it seems like it is for great price. Thanks.
 
Good to know. The 5850 used to be a bad ass card but still enough to drive <2560x1600 resolutions.
I'd recommend the 6870 instead though.

To run 3 monitors you'll need to connect at least 1 monitor to the displayport. If neither of your screens come with a DP you'll need an active displayport adapter.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
^ Correct. OP should get an AMD card with sufficient performance for his single screen gaming, and then grab an active DP adaptor for the third screen (assuming none have native DP input already).

BTW, what are the native resolutions of the three screens? And does the LCD TV have HDMI input?

Yes like that. But you can find one that works the same on ebay for 1/3 of the price. I actually bought the adapter in that link but returned it when I took and chance on one on ebay for $8.60 shipped. Works just the same.

Different resolutions aren't a problem for your intended use (2D on 2 or 3 screens, 3D on 1 screen), but the card will run a bit hotter/noiser (at idle won't drop to full power-saving settings).

Check the outputs on the cards you are considering: 1 (dual-link) DVI will connect to 1 DVI monitor (e.g. 24" 1920x1200). 1 (single-link) DVI or HDMI can be used foranother screen (preferably HDMI 1920x1080?). The third connection is from DisplyPort, with Active Adaptor (e.g. single link DVI 1440x900).
