Since that great Microcenter deal ($37) plopped an Asus A8N in my lap, what cards, current or upcoming are best bang for the buck?

I have my eye on 7900GT's because the rebates and price drops HAVE to be coming on those. Any suggestions?

i dont know how much of a drop there is actually going to be. Nvidia is MUCH better than ATI at controlling prices with the introdcution of new parts. the 7950gt might drive them down a little bit but i wouldnt expect much. Take a look at the 7800gt and the 7800gtx for an example, they are still ridiculously expensive, even more so than the faster performing and lower power 7900 series.

Only downside is the 256mb of vram. The overclock very well (vmod).

It looks like you are running about the same setup as I will be. Happy with it?

Yea. I'm happy with it. If I had gotten a card a little bit later I might have shot for the X1900XT but mine is probably faster :)

Vmodded to 1.45v at 690 on the core. (memory is at stock volts)

I would wait a month and see how the 7900GS stacks up. It should be pretty close to a stock 7900GT for a lot less cash and they may very well have OC'ed ersions available like they did with the 7900GT.
