I have a z68 motherboard and a 2500k which I am still happy with because I primarily am concerned with gaming performance. I am probably going to add a second gtx 760 this fall and I just realized I don't think z68 supports two pcie slots at x16 is this correct? If it does not is there any definitive proof of how much of a bottleneck two cards in x8 slots are over two in x16 slots? I seem to remember seeing that it was a minor bottleneck but not major. Would I be wasting money doing an SLI config with my current mobo/cpu combo?

Looking up the motherboard yes its x8/x8 in sli mode. I myself have used sli in x8 and then upgraded to a mobo that had x16/x16 and used the same cards and as far as what ive seen it didnt increase performance much except by a few fps. sli adds more heat and sometimes driver problems but itll add a good boost in fps.

Shouldn't be an issue. I would however try to get an overclock out of your CPU if you haven't already. Pretty easy to run into a CPU bottleneck when you are running SLI.

Thanks for the info, cooling in my case shouldn't be an issue but I do need a good air cooler for the 2500k before I can oc much I'm thinking a hyper 212 and a oc around 4.5ghz should limit the bottleneck. I have to say the 2500k was a great value for how long it has stayed relevant...
