SLI and 6 monitors (Not Surround)

I understand you can only use 2 monitors in SLI mode. Is there a way around this? I know purchasing a second video card will work. I was curious if there were any so called hacks to get around this limitation. I have my 20 30 20 PLP Dell monitor setup, and then I have 3 HD tv's I use for various media activities. Yes, I know its overkill 🙂

Im not sure about what you are trying to do, but you can use 3 monitors in SLI or 2 monitors per card in non SLI.

I could be wrong though.

I want to keep SLI on while running 6 monitors. But I'm only using the SLI for my main monitor for gaming (Dell U3011)

I guess another way is to see if my old 8800GT has 2 dual link dvi ports. If so I can split each port and make 4 and hook my other monitor's up to that.

How would you do that? I believe the 8800GT does have 2 dual link DVI ports.

You can have the additional monitors hooked up to cards outside of the SLI set. I.E. Just do 2-way SLI, hook up the first 2 monitors to the primary card. Then hook up the remaining 4 displays to 2 cards that are not in your SLI set.

Something like the 6870s would be easier to deal with as they can drive 4 displays each, though.
