Ok, while I'm waiting for a decent priced 8800gt to surface(if anyone knows of one plz let me know) I'm going to dual wield a couple of 6600gt's. Would you say I'm wasting my time if i plan on playing unreal III, the witcher, maybe crysis?, and vanguard soh...it's just for a few weeks so fps just have to be tolerable.

They're going to be paired with 4gigs pc6400 and e6750 cpu.

Is there any hope??

Do you already have a 6600GT right now and plan to get another one?

I suppose it depends on how much you can get a second 6600GT in that case...you're wasting your time and money if it's more than $120, IMO. It's also a bad idea if getting another 6600GT will cut into the funds of your 8800GT you will use later, as well, so it all depends on how patient what you are on now rather than paying for some instant gratification only to upgrade later anyways.

no no...i already have two 6600gt's, they're old. I'm just inquiring about whether or not i'd be able to run the listed games with the two.

What resolution? I can't imagine these are going to run any new AAA title like Crysis or U3 at higher than 1024x768 at low settings.

I'm in the same boat as you, BTW. I've had SLid 6600GT's since launch and they are now really starting to be unenjoyable with today's software. I'm pretty busy with work and life right now, so my gaming isn't a priority; but, I'm really trying to hold off until February when the new nVidia product line is rumored to drop (D9E et al.).

dual-wielding 6600gt's right now is like taking two toothpicks to a gunfight...they're still toothpicks.

I believe the D9E is going to be the new high-end card (would have been a 9800GTX, if nVidia kept their naming convention). There's conflicts, though, as to whether this is just going to be a GX2 8800 part or a new beast altogether. I think it's going to be a new chip instead of a single-card-SLI product. The 7900GX2 card didn't really sell well due to cost, size, and heat.
