nVidia 6600 GT's aren't the most powerful cards but do you think for SLI setup at $300 they're better than going for say a single 6800 GT? Pipelines will probably have some say in this..

Yes, I know the prices, but would it be worth it to go for the same cost and SLI two 6600 gt's?

6800GT offers equal if not better performance.

It's uses 256 mb of memory, 256 bit memory, and 16 pipes.

It's a superior card.

You will get equall if not better performance, it may start to pull ahead at a high res and with AA/AF enabled.

*Less noise
*Less heat
*Doesn't need a SLI motherboard

Bouzouki is right. I have a 6600GT SLI set and a 6800GT SLI set, and one 6800GT is in general a better solution than 6600GT SLI.

The 6600GT SLI is not much worse, but the 6800GT wins more benches than it loses, unless you have a really high end CRT and are looking to game at 20X15 0X16X.

The 6600GTs do have Purevideo WMV9 going for them if that interests you.

6600gt's in sli usually lose a single 6800gt

a 6800gt is cheaper as well and has better upgradability
