Sleeving ATX Connector

Hey guys,

Im hoping some of you techies have figured out how to sleeve the ATX connector. I know you have to take off the connector (crossing fingers on that), but how?? I have sleeved all the other wires...the molex and the 12V connectors were easy....but the big one seems impossible.

Mine came pre-sleeved, but if I had to sleeve it, I wouldn't take the plug off... I'd orient it sideways so it's in line with the cable as much as possible, then use some masking tape to tape it up so it doesn't have any sharp corners/edges to snag, and push the sleeving over it. If you haven't consulted MDay's sleeving guide, he gives great instructions on how to sear the sleeving in an expanded form so it doesn't unravel: link

I have found an ATX de-pinning tool......not sure if i want to spend $15 to try to take the thing off easily......tried yer sideways thing mech.....even with cauterizing the ends it was still fraying over the connector (taped off and everything). I was going to try to find maybe some 3/4" sleeving....but doesn't seem to exist. So for now, everything looks nice and sleeved except for the biggest eyesore in my case.....the ATX power wires. :frown: (well that and my ghetto-a$$ 8500)
