Sleeping with your contacts on?

Is it good/bad? I just recently got contacts, the soft lens disposable. But sometimes I feel really tired, and I just fall asleep with them on. They have never went to the back of my head, they stay on my eyes. I usually wake up with a big ass headache. That's about the only bad thing. Anyone else know anything bad?

How bad?

its bad. you can get an eye infection from it where your eye is reddish/pink for about a week. I had to learn the hard way. I told my friends as well, but they insisted on learning the hard way too. needless to say they never do it again.

I sleep with them in all the time.. never had a problem.. 10 years + of wearing contacts..

My friend from SD would sleep with em on and never change for a whole month at a time. He didn't care since he was getting laser....NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Aww, I wish I could get laser. How much does it cost per eye? I really would consider it. I hate when I have to take off the contact. i just don't like the feeling of it touching my eye. Yuck!

i don't wear contacts, but from memory your starving your eyes for oxygen or something.. it can lead to blindness.. don't do it

It's not THAT bad. With newer contacts, your eyes get plenty of oxygen. I know several people who do this and have never known anyone to have a problem more serious than a little pink eye, but that only comes from leaving them in for extended periods of time (like a month when it's supposed to be 2 weeks) and not from sleeping with them in. I also sleep with my contacts and have never had a problem as a result of it.

I sleep with them in most of the time and it's OK.

My problem is that I keep wearing the same pair of contacts even though I should change them for new ones

You can sleep in the extended wear kind. You wear em for about 30 days then chuck em. If they are just regular soft lenses then don't sleep in em.

i use Acuvue's and i keep wearing them until they rip or i lose them. i used to take them out until freshman year in college, where i jus got freakin lazy. the only annoying thing is cleaning out eye gunk in the morning, and keeping them from drying out and coming off.
