I've never slept with earplugs before, but I was recently forced to because of some loud music my dad was playing...

EVERYONE SHOULD TRY THIS!

I now:

--Fall asleep at least 2x as fast
--Achieve Deeper Sleep
--Wake up feeling much more rested
--Sleep longer and don't wake up in the middle of the night
--I remember my dreams much better (not sure how)

I realize that for those ofyou who wake up to an alarm clock, that this may present a problem, but if you have a friend/family member/ roomate who is willing to help it's definitly worth a try... Or just do it on a day that you can sleep in, for me it's been an amazing change!

I sleep just as well without earplugs, but I suppose they are good if your environment is noisy.

Which ear plugs did you use? I'm going to try some soon. Instead of spending lots of money making my PC silent (right next to my bed) i thought maybe i could just use some ear plugs :p

My sleep environment is already quiet as a sock (?) and I have no problems sleeping.

Not interested in starting any bad habits, where I become dependant on something to sleep, AND somebody to wake me.

Why not turn it off, Einstein?

Could you hear your heartbeat when on your side? I'm thinking of starting sleeping with the ear plugs, but between comfort and this I'm doubtful.

Sleeping with earplugs in means you won't hear the burgular when he breaks in.

Aren't earplugs supposed to be unhealthy? I read that they create optimal conditions for the rapid growth of harmful bacteria in your ear.

Only thing I can hear is my own deep soothing breaths

I use the foam kind that expand in the ear canal, the kind you get at rock concerts, cheapies

It's wiered, cause I'm used to having back-ground noise...

the problem I was having was this low repetitive bass line vibrating the walls/cieling right above me

I think he was listning to "arround the lake" by Toadies...

I think it was my dad's passive-agressive-ass way of telling me to wake up @ 10:30am after I'd stayed up till 5:00

I diddn't let it work, I just went upstairs and asked if he had some earplugs :D

Either that or he won't hear the hot girl that snuck into his room for some hot sex only to find out that he couldn't hear her whisper nasty things into his ear because he had earplugs on.

What do Q-Tips have to do with anything?

You're not supposed to put them in your ear anyway.

Q-Tips are just cotton, they are for cleaning your ear of earwax. They still have nothing to do with what I was referring to...

I think no matter what is suggested on ATOT there will be at least 5 people to point out the adverse health effects of it

I can't fall asleep when its dead quiet or if I can hear a tv or such.
I have to use a fan in the bedroom year round. It's just enough to block out background noise but not obnoxiously loud.

I don't use them at home, but I have learned to always take a pair when I travel for sleeping on planes or other noisy places. Makes a big difference.

I've tried it before.
I sleep much better with ambient noise going...
(ie: fan noise from ceiling fan, PC fans, wind, rain, etc...)
