i have trouble getting to sleep sometimes. i'll just lay there in bed for like an hour or 2 before i finally fall asleep. so i've been buying some sleep aid pills and they seem to help.

one thing i noticed is that most times (if not every time) i take them, i end up having dreams. i rarely have dreams when going to sleep normally.

is this because i'm getting a deeper sleep or is it because of the chemicals in the drug?

its diphenhydramine hydrochloride. 1 pill is 50 mg of that stuff. i only take 1 pill as per the directions.

twice i took 2 pills because i was not tired at all. i was thinking it would help me go to sleep faster. well, yes it did do that, but i also woke up a few hours later sweating like crazy. since then i've only taken the recommended 1 pill.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Best thing that ever happened to my long sleepless nights;)

I have also noticed since starting Lunesta I have had better recall ability with my dreams. I think its because I am finally able to hit REM sleep.

Hey pontifex are they over the counter, if so what brand and how much? That Lunesta stuff looks promising but it will require a trip to the doctor etc...

Last night I was up till almost 5 and woke up at 8AM

As mentioned in the thread I linked. I was taking Melatonin previously and it does work well. Although not nearly as well as Lunesta:)

yes, its OTC stuff. i started out using the tylenol pm stuff but it was $10 for a bottle of 32 pills. i then switched to generic CVS stuff thats exactly the same as the tylenol stuff and its only like $6.

i only use them when i can't fall asleep or when i know i will have trouble falling asleep. i have no dependency on them at all though, but its probably different for different people.

isn't lunesta a prescription drug though?
