My best friend has an 85 V6 turbo Regal, all blacked out, and he modded it to >450bhp and over 500lb/ft of torque. Even today there are very few cars that can touch it.

Doesn't seem to phase the stupid kids in V8 Camaros and Mustangs. They have no idea what it is, but it lays waste to them all the same.

Back in the 70's, I had a ratty 1966 El Camino that wasted almost everything in its path. Had a 1971 454 (.60 over - 468) and an earlier Turbo 400 trans in it, along with a 12-bolt rear with the spider gears welded, with 4.11 gears. It had an Offenhauser intake with a 750 Holley on it, Crane Fireball cam, Accel ignition, forged crank with Keith Black pistons, and a crappy set of unknown headers. Biggest problem I had with it was getting it to hook up. Didn't really have drag radials back then. Ran 11.20's on Mickey Thompsons with the headers open.

The Mustang, Camaro, Roadrunner crowd got embarrassed quite often...

funny, most of his vids are from a roll. FWD with that much power, means he loses a bunch of the line.

Its also amusing that he complains about how loud car guys are, yet he makes a video and posts it on youtube? lol

this seems like a classis 3800 forum member. We have a lot of these guys around chicago. GTP, regal GS,bonnieville w/e. Most of these kids just slap on a bigger pulley and think they are god. Same goes with them SRT4 skittles.

Its a good video for class. I say he should get an A. But these 3800 powered cars are nothing close to sleepers, let alone the last gen grand prix with a LSx motor stock. They are only sleepers to high school kids.

There are a few that are legit sleepers, I had a regal GS and followed the forums. I seem to recall that there were a few people into the 9's in the mid 2000's, there must be more now.

My fave (semi-) sleepers are those Polestar Volvos.

Yes, there's a bit of badging, and some slight visual mods. But nothing that says "400 horsies" (and especially not 250 horsies more than stock).

I guess you can't just go out and mod one yourself, judging by how extensively they modified that C30 (and the S60 too).

One question to the modders though - how do you perfect a sleeper's exhaust? Butterfly valves? I'd say a muffler to keep the noise to sleeper levels at normal revs will probably hurt performance at full power?
Or do you just go "sleeper looks are good enough" and just run that mother fully open :D

I've seen/heard this type of setup. Its a variation of a buttlyfly valve.

U can't cover up the sound a larger cam makes tho. I've seen some silent old Scarlett and other jap cars pull a 10-11 sec 1/4 mile. They has some huge turbos.

meh....this guy comes off as kind of a d-bag IMO, and is just as bad as the people that he hates on in the mustangs.

He put x amount of dollars into an 80 year old man car, with a mushy suspension and fwd, than he goes around racing nearly bone stock 260 hp mustangs and brags about it like he's the cleverest person on the face of the earth.

Add the same amount of money to a car that's already rwd with a v8, and you'll have a much faster, better handling car for the same amount of money. I guess you wouldn't be able to make smug youtube videos about your sleeper if you did that, but you'd have a better car.
