I'm really suprised people don't talk more about a computer's ability to sleep. Particularly, don't motherboards with raid fail to provide any ability to spin a drive down when not in use? I know the promise pci raid cards don't let you, and it sucks.
I'm trying to put together a system to replace my unstable dell 8100, but the one great thing about it is that when it sleeps, IT SLEEPS. No power supply noise, no cpu, no hard drives, nuttin. I love this.
Just curious, do any of you have rigs that are homebuilt that can do this, and if so what components are you using?
