Sleep-states with more HDDs and a PCI-E SATA controller

I don't like adding "complexity," but sometimes you take a chance. And the complexity I'm contemplating had been status-quo before -- more or less.

My WHS-2011 box has a mobo with six SATA ports. I've used five of those -- only because I had an IDE DVD-burner I hooked up to the sole IDE-controller port (it's an LGA-775 mobo).

I may want one or more HDDs, and I might want to replace the IDE optical drive with SATA DVD-burner and then just disable the onboard IDE controller. Or -- I might even want to replace the IDE burner with an older StarTech IDE Hot-swap bay (for some 500 GB drives I have).

There are still three vacant PCI-E slots -- two of which would handle an x4 or x8 SATA expansion card.

Am I going to have trouble implementing S3 sleep and wake after I add such a controller card? Or -- which controller card would be recommended to avoid such a problem?

I found this HighPoint controller interesting, because of the price. I will no longer dump $300 or more into RAID controller cards unless I have sufficient reason:
