Sleep schedule is broken :-(

Woke up around 6PM today. I work at home (coding), so at least it isn't screwing with my social life or work.

*sigh* It still feels very strange sleeping all day and working all night

Same here man... spent two weeks in Maui (6 hour difference), got home at 10:00 Sunday night, stayed up until 3:00 a.m. for some retarded reason, slept in until 1:00 p.m., couldn't sleep last night so I came in to work at 5:30. I figure if I get to bed around 8 tonight I'll wake up at a normal time tomorrow morning.

My sleep schedule is so jacked its not even funny. Sleep during the day 5 nights a week, but two nights a week I sleep at night, and one day a week I'll stay up for like 30 hours straight...

Graveyard shift stinks

Every weekend I fsck myself over by sleeping to noon or 1pm. then I can't sleep on Sunday night and I end up late for work Monday. God bless flexible student jobs

However that's gotta suck when classes start. Well then again lectures are made to be missed right? 😀

When school starts it'll be wonderful - my job right now makes me get up at 5, I'll be able to sleep till 8 every day when school starts - that'll be so friggen nice . . .

Third shift sucks balls.

Be happy you don't have an exact schedule and can work normal hours if you want.

Third shift is ruining my life.

UGH effin 3rd shift... I work sunday night -> thursday night, and then if I sleep when I get home friday morning, then I can't go to sleep at night, so I try to sleep for ~ 3 hours and sometimes I can manage sleeping at a normal time... Can't wait till school starts.

My brother and cousin have messed up sleep schedules.. they're up til 3 or 4 in the morning, then they sleep til 12-1pm. Then they can't help but repeat it, because they're not tired until 3-4am.

My sleep schedule isn't messed up though, but that's because I know I have to be up at 6am everyday (for work), so I make sure to go to bed around 10:30-11pm.

No, your schedule would be broken if you woke up at 6AM. PM is OK 😀

I don't have a body clock 🙂

If there's no alarm I wake up 8-9 hours after I fall asleep. If I get 7 hours a night I'm tired enough where I can fall asleep immediately.

Depends on your definition of broken I guess 😛

Sorta, woke up an hour ago. I'm trying to fix it by sleeping less so that I'll be sleepy earlier. I'm shooting for a 3AM bedtime.

if you're trying to break out of it, just set your alarm and wake up super early one day (or stay up really late). you'll be tired and grumpy for one day, but you'll be back into a "normal" sleep schedule.

but yeah, graveyard shift sucks... I worked 12 am - 8 am for over a year (that's where my post count came from 😛). hella boring and it sucked trying to have a social life with my friends and family since I wasn't waking up until 7 - 8 pm most nights (not to mention on my days off, I'd be awake for my usual third shift hours, so I'd have nothing to do on my nights off since everyone I know would be sleeping).

glad I finally got out of overnight shifts. I work 4 pm - 12 am right now, which isn't super, but it's good enough 🙂

the only really bad day I have now is Tuesday / Wednesday... I work until midnight on Tuesday night, go home, take a sleeping pill to force myself to get some rest, and then come back to work at 9 am Wednesday morning.

I think that one of the ways to make graveyard (10 or 11 pm - 7 or 8 am) a "normal" shift is to stay up as long as you can when you get home. That way you wake up about 2-3 hours before you go to work. Just like you would if you were working days. The problems arises when you have peeps coming home at 4-6 pm and you've only been asleep for 3-5 hours. Yikes.

I used to work 5pm - 5 am, Mon through Fri. I would get up around 1 or 2 pm each day and then was in bed by 6:30 am the next day. On Saturday morning, I would sleep just a few hours or not at all, sleep at night on Saturday, then get up super early on Sunday, no matter what time I went to bed. I was able to stay up until 5 am or later Monday morning to get back on schedule.

YMMV.
