Thanks, Zim, for your comments. I have a machine that I buiilt in 2014, still going strong, running Windows 7. But for several years, I have been troubled with BSoD crashes of random nature but seemingly related to virtual-memory address translation. My motherboard is a Gigabyte model GA-Z97X-SOC Force, and I was using Sleep mode. The timing of the crashes suggested a glitch occurring during the power-on machine-awakening process.
Five months ago I switched to using Hibernation only, and I have not had a machine crash occur since that time. My power supply is an EVGA model SuperNOVA 850 G2, "850 watts C6/C7-compliant" (their words). I think that I would agree with your latest observation that maybe there's an inherent bug in that motherboard. Otherwise it works just fine..!
