Sometimes a part of it is imagery from your dreams being incorporated into your waking vision for a while. I get that sometimes. One time I saw these funny patterns moving around on the ceiling. Another time I saw my cat floating around above the bed. Those two were just weird and not particularly disturbing, but the last time I remember having it was scary. It looked like the room was on fire. I could see red light coming from behind the dresser in the corner. I jumped up and turned the light on, and of course the room wasn't really on fire, but it gave a me a shock. I had to stop sleeping in that room because it was happening so much. I've only ever had it in that room. Weird.

I've had it several times where you can hear people coming, they walk right up to you, and they shout at you, but you can't freaking move. Man, they could beat me up good and I would be helpless like a ragdoll. Weird disorder, but at least it's only one of those occational and rare events. I'd hate to be one of the people who have to deal with it every day. The only thing I can figure out about the disorder is that even though you wake up, it's like your brain forgot to flip on a couple of switches. As soon as it realizes this, it turns them on and you're fine.Originally posted by: McMadman
I've never had that happen, but the only things I can really remember are ones that I'm "falling"
I generally wake up suddenly and "jump" the bed is still shaking, another one similar to that was I woke up, and rolled out of bed at the same time (how's that for a rude awakening?)
Supposingly I've moved/talked in my sleep as well.

I sleep with my TV on, and when I wake up, I realize that I incorporated stuff from TV into my dreams.
Say the news is on and they're talking about Saddam.. I'll start dreaming about him and a sniper rifle.
That's weird... I see floating figures, patterns, and colors quite often, usually as I'm falling asleep.Originally posted by: lirion

Correct. Sleep walking is a form of waking dream where your body subconciously activates and walks around, or hikes, runs, etc without the knowledge of the individual doing it.Originally posted by: GoodRevrnd
So is sleep paralysis basically the opposite of sleep walking then?

I'm not sure if this is what I have....and have quite often. I'm semi-awake and I think I see my room (sometimes, I think I see a person there too, like my dad). So, I feel I'm awake and want to get up. So I lift my hand. In my mind, I think I'm actually accomplishing it...I even "see" my hand being lifted, but in reality, I'm not getting anything done. I soon realize this as I can't lift my head. I get pissed because I know I'm stuck in this sleep problem again. The only way I can get out of it is if I shake my head in real life. The problem is, I don't know if I'm actually shaking it in real life or just in my mind. Eventually, I manage to shake myself out of it. I'm all exhausted afterward, my head is dizzy and I wonder how creepy it might have looked if someone was in the room.

Yes, it is a weird feeling. Nobody knows why it happens. It's just like your body forgets to flip a switch or something. Kinda like someone upstairs forgot to follow the "wake up" check list. 😉
