Sleep disorders other than Sleep Apnea.

I went to the doctor the other day, and mentioned that I thought I might have sleep Apnea. He gave me a check-up and said I probably don't have it because I have a large airway and small tonsils. He drew some blood for some tests, and told me to record myself when I sleep and see what happens. I brought out the trusty Creative Labs Nomad II and recorded myself sleeping. Well, I didn't snore at all. This leads me to believe I might have some other sleeping disorder. The doctor said if the blood tests came up normal, I would probably need to go do a sleep study. So while I am waiting, what other sleep disorder might I have? My symtons are I wether I get 6,7,8 or 9 hours of sleep I usually feel drowsy and never refreshed when I wake up. I don't remember waking up during the night, and I usually don't have any problems falling asleep. I 24 years old BTW. Any thoughts?

I don't think sleep apnea is only about snoring, it also describes when a person stops breathing at all for a period of time during their sleep. (Longer than the normal pause between breaths).

Yea, the doctor discribed pauses in breathing as one of the symptons, so that is why he suggested that I record myself. I didn't hear myself grasping for breath or anything during my recording....

The doctor should have given you an Oxygen monitor to put on your finger during the night.
It would record if you are getting enough. Oxygen, that is.

Perhaps it's a schedule thing. How do your sleep hours vary? Do you get 5 hours one night, 8 the next, and the 6 the next? Or do you regularly get 7.5? If your hours vary widely, that may throw your body off and cause your problems. You could try setting a regular sleep schedule. You might also try exercise. That might help invigorate you.

Good luck with the tests and keep us posted on how everything goes.

how much carbonation do you drink?

do you know that carbonation hinders oxygen from getting through your bloodstream?

I have been staying away from carbonation and caffine for that matter lately... I will be sure to ask the doctor about the finger oxygen thing. Thanks for the help.

Did you listen to the entire night's worth? I think it only occurs during certain types of sleep.
