Sleep Deprivation

Who says I don't?

I can't function without at least 7-8 hours of sleep. My body needs sleep to rest.

Most of my job is mental (programming). You NEED to think or else you code crap.

Because I work all day, and I feel like I get nothing done if I just go home and go to sleep. So I end up staying up late and doing things, but then I'm totally beat the next day.

I often wake up early in the morning and can't get back to sleep due to stress. That usully leaves me with 4 - 5 hours of sleep and very tired for the next day.

I usually get to bed by 1-2am and wake up at 6:30-6:45am to be at work by 7:30am.

I try to get away with as little sleep as possible because I feel it's a waste of time. I can catch up when I'm dead.

I'd sleep more but I'm afraid I might miss something important.

My biography, you damn right, the true story
Set the city on fire, and I didn't even try
Run these streets all day, I can sleep when I die

I don't sleep enough at night because the morning comes too early. Also, I tend to have trouble falling asleep. I'm never tired at night, I often find myself awake even as late as 4am laying in bed still trying to sleep. Then around 8:00, the evil alarm clock rings.

So, I mostly gave up on trying to sleep 8 hours (though I don't have the time to do that these days.)
I mostly just try to get to sleep early enough that I can get 5+ hours of shut eye. Also, I sometimes catch up on the weekend by sleeping in on Saturday or Sunday.

Sometimes Im just too distracted with things in my room, like my tv, my pda, my computer, magazines, xbox, etc.

Sometimes Im too wired from just returning from the gym.

Sometimes Im just too stressed from work or class.

Uberman's Sleep Schedule

That really works? ~3 hours of sleep per 24 hour period and you can still function?

The name is only a coincidence. It fascinates me though, Google uberman and it will tell you about polyphasic sleeping. It certainly sounds efficient. Supposedly it takes two weeks to break into it and then you must maintain a rigid schedule.
