Hi,
I have a 40gig primary drive with my o.s. installed on it and a 80 gig back up drive. I have another 80gig hard drive that I would like to transfer the 40gig to and use this new 80gig as my primary drive. What is a good way of doing this without having to reinstall the O.S.?
Thanks

Hi, All HD makers have free programs that will do the job. Maxtor calls theirs MAXBLAST. It will setup a new drive and/or CLONE a drive for you.
Good Luck, Jim

Good luck.

the free utilities from the HD manufacturer couldn't be simpler and that goes for ghost and acronis as well

I would clone the harddrive and in my situation, Ghost. It does take as long as reinstalling the O/S. It should take less than 30 minutes for everything. Its really up to you how much effort you want to put in. Reinstalling programs, setting up and the like is really time consuming, So if you like most of us, do the clone.
