Slavery reparations again: This is ridiculous

I agree with micheal, for he is a wise, wise man.

All of easter europe was under turkish rule for nearly 5 centuries. Bulgaria, serbia, greece, romania, hungary, czechs, poles -- ALL of them were slaves for a countless number of years.

Bulgaria, which is amoung the last states to gain freedom in 1878 (notice that that is AFTER blacks became free). My great great grandfather was probably a slave, but you dont see ME suing the turkish government, DO YOU? You think I will ever get a $500 000 check in the damn mail? I dont phucking think so!

Just let it friggin go. The sooner everyone forgets about it, the sooner everyone can get on with their lives.

Ah Pyro, neither the Czech Republic or Poland (or any Eastern European nation on a higher latitude than Hungary) was ever a part of the Ottamon Empire, or for that matter ever occupied by Turkey.

BTW, the average peasents in those parts of Europe that were parts of the Turkish Empire, were no less free or were no worse of than the average peasant elsewhere in Europe.

Really the Ottomans were quite culturally tolerant (they even let Greek Bureaucrats administer their Romanian principalities of Maldavia & Wallacia for them).

It was after the 'young Turks' (& one in particular - General Attaturk) took over (arround the end of the Great War, when the Turks occupied no more of Europe than they do now), that the Turks started to ethnically cleans Anatola (bit like the Israelis in the 40's🙂 & the Serbs in more recent times) & massacred what totalled up to at least 3 million Armenians, Kurds & Greeks (actually some of those Greek cities along the Black Sea had been there for over 2500 years, till Attaturk had them depopulated). The Turks were a bit insecure about all these peoples who had been living there a lot longer than them.

The Turks still refuse to simply aknowledge, let alone apolgise for what they did, which the main cause of friction, even today.

Piano Man, the problem is that in our "Sue happy" society these days especially, formally apologizing is admitting GUILT, which opens the floodgates for.... say it with me now boys and girls...

LAWSUITS! LAWSUITS! LAWSUITS!

That is why the feds have not and will not formally apologize for slavery.
It's because of these money grubbing lazy asswipes looking for a way to scam a buck that descendants of former slaves will never get an apology. Because it opens the door for lawsuit after lawsuit from greedy little pukes.

A man said to me regarding this issue:

<< Perhaps it is time for the NAACP and it's supporters, to pay reparations to the men they accuse. Maybe it is time for the accused to go on offense. How long must the accused bear the foolishness of Men, freed long ago, who are looking to stir the pot of trouble? Defamation of character and Business interference for starters? >>

🙂

"Hey Classy, what's up with this being offended all the time? "
Red Dawn

Well even though all our posts got deleted, I am going to try to recant some of what I said yesterday.

Let me lay it out for Red and few other peoples.
For starters there are too many "anti-black" threads. As I stated yesterday I just started reading here in the Off Topic forum here in the last 2 months. In the last month there was a thread attacking Jesse Jackson. As I stated yesterday in that thread, they attcked him to start, then they blamed black people for the following crime, welfare, Affirmative Action, and the racial divide in this country. All of the people attacking are white. That thread ended with some guy crying about his wife having to go work at some school where there was racial tension. He was trying to imply that the principle, who was black, was at the center of the controversy. What was so pathetic was that his wife had not even started working there yet and he already was looking to blame a black person.

A week later the same jerk that started this Reparations thread started a thread putting down rap music. Now if its just about the lyrics in music, why did he pick out rap music? I posted lyrics that was worse than any rapper you'll hear. Now let me say this to get this out of the way. Most music has it roots in ethnic backgrounds. Rock is white in its roots. I like many other black people like rock music. But it is still the music of whites in general. The same goes for rap. Rap music is of black people. Jimi Hendrix, who is the freaking man by the way, didn't change the roots of Rock music because he was black. Just like a couple of white boys like M&M don't change the roots or the face of Rap music. Hell long before M&M there was 3rd Bass. Now that is not racial to think that. Music always has and always will have its roots in a certain ethnic group. That is the way it is and if you can't understand that well too bad I guess. Now concerning this particular thread he chose to single out rap music, knowing its black in nature. Why? Then all the other apple heads started with their typical cross burning. They were all up in arms over the black gangsta rappers, but when I posted the white boys singing Rock music with their filthy lyrics, everyone got quiet. Hmmmmmmm???????? I thought it was about the lyrics and not the color.

Now a week later we have another "anti-black" thread on Reparations. Something most if not all of you know nothing about. What's it going to be next week? Russ said he had friends that "completely" disagree with me. Hmmmmm? I wish they would post here and read what I have read. I wonder if they would disagree with me completely then. I doubt it. And if anyone says its not an attack on blacks in nature, answer me this. Why is it that its the same people over and over again that post these threads, make such stereo typical comments, and all these posts are associated or attributed to black people? If its not cross burning then what is it? These people don't like minoritys, period. How can they come to a conclusion that most of the problems in the State of Texas are the fault of illegal "Mexican" immigrants, if they are not "pigmently" challenged? Then they wonder why someone of an ethnic background wants to see them on the back of milk carton.

Oh, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. I mean everyone too. Hope everyone has a safe holiday season. 🙂

Classy,

Good post, but I have a few comments.

1. How is it that if someone is "putting down rap" they are being anti-black? I personally don't like most rap, with the exception of a few rappers, who are unique ie: busta, and outkast. Most rap, is rather weak as far as lyrical and artistic content is concerned.

2. To claim that rock is

<< Rock is white in its roots >>

, is ridiculous. Rock, in any form has is basic influences in the blues and jazz (and I don't mean that yanni trash). I don't claim to be a music know-it-all, but from what I remember when I took guitar lessons, all the "cool" songs I wanted to play I learned were based off chord progressions used by blues musicians for years.

3. And I don't feel that an anti-reparations thread is "anti-black". I admit, some post in this discussion could eventually become "anti-black" should the wrong people become involved, but overall it is not. This is an important issue that concerns us all as American tax payers. First off, If there is to be reparations this money would come from tax hikes, which means less money in the old paycheck for you to spend. Now I don't' know what you feel is fair, but I don't feel it is fair that I should be "punished" for something I had nothing to do with. Second, has anyone taken into account what this would do to our economy? If you gave all "black" americans lets say $10,000 we would drastic inflation and there new money would be worthless, hence they would be back where they started.

4. Now this is the part I'm afraid you will take out of context, but here it goes. If the FED paid out this money, what kind of effect do you really feel it would have on the black community, especially the inner-city ones? You mean to make me believe that if you give a gang memeber or drug dealer $10,000 they will see their wrong, and get an "honest" job? The reason I say this is someone brought up a quote that mentioned the disproportionate number of blaks in prison. Unfortunatly this is true, the prisoners are produts of thier environment. Your average crook will continue to steal even if he is $10,000 richer, regardless of skin tone.

I truely feel sorry for the way blacks were treated in the past. But unfortunatly it happened. The past is exactly that. Nothing you ever do will take it back.

I did not do this post as a flame in case you were wondering. I just would like to get a better understanding of what you claim.
