Put in 2 new opticals, a new toshiba dvd rom, and nec dvd rw. All of a sudden the ide slave won't work, i flipped flopped both, put the toshiba alone on master and slave, it worked, put the nec on slave and master and it is fine, however when i put both in either one as master and slave, NOTHING.
BUT,,,,,,putting one on the first ide, and the other on the second ide they both work
anyone have this problem?

Have you tried another cable? Either that or just configure the CD-RW as master on the 2nd IDE port and make the DVD rom as slave on the 1st IDE port.

Hi, Maybe you have a CABLE SELECT cable. Set both devices on a cable to CS and give it a try. Another tip off is that the connectors are color coded. Position on the cable determines which will be C: (or E🙂 and which will be D: (or F🙂. Good Luck, Jim
