just pulled a relatively new (hereafter referred to as the "older" drive) hdd and put it in a brand new system as a second slaved drive. however, it is not seen in "my computer". it is seen as a slave in BIOS. i detached the master and set the older drive as master and when booting, it gave a blue screen error of "this drive running in compatibility mode" but booted to windows. i played with the jumpers and got the same blue screen several times, but finally got it to boot with out the "compatibility mode" error. then i reset the jumpers to slave and reattached the newer hdd as master and it booted fine, but it still doesn't see the slaved drive (BIOS still recognizes both drives). there are no splats in dev mgr and, in fact, dev mgr sees two hard drives, although they are both labeled "Generic IDE Disk Type 47". any ideas??

Being seen or not seen in "My Computer" doesn't mean as much as what you see in Device Manager. If it is there, then it is seen by Windows. My Computer has a user applied filter which I only know how to access with TWEAK.UI . . . see "My Computer" and make sure drives beyond "C" are checked. You need as many drives checked (for "visibility") as you have . . . C;, D:, E, F, etc.
