i'm currently changing a new comp case and during my first boot up, it's detected but did not display the SMART info which it usually does. upon entering winXP, device manager detect the HD and says the device is working properly, however, in "my computer", it does not display the HD. sometimes, repeated restart is needed to fix the problem. no such problem in the past...wat went wrong? any solution??

check to make sure the IDE cable isn't reversed(most likely cause this has happened to me before) make sure the red stripe is on the same side as it is on the master if the master is working properly
check your jumper settings
in CMOS setup>standard setup make sure IDE0 slave is set to auto
