SLAVE drive w/ "boot failure" prevents MASTER XP drive booting

My XP locked up.
So, I did a hard shutdown
When I tried to restart, I got a "Boot failure" error. (F me)

I want to mirror my XP backup (on an 80GB drive)
BACK onto this corrupt XP drive (b/c it's brand new 300GB)

So, I attached the 300GB boot failure drive as a SLAVE,
and was going to use Acronis to copy my 80GB Backup XP onto the 300GB drive.

However, I can not boot my 80GB XP backup with this bad SLAVE drive attached.

What can I do?
Think the drive has a physcal failure?
It's less than a week old !!!!!

How do I just format this drive? (And hopefully attach as slave for the drive miror)

Thanks for the help,
I do appreciate the guys on this forum.
