Slash's new album

On track 3 right now. So far it's pretty good. Nothing earth shattering, but it's pretty refreshing. I have been sick of what passes as hard rock these days (too many bands that sound like 3 Doors Down carbons)

I hate Fergie, but even her track is great. She should have got into a rock and roll band instead.

There's so many bands that sound like Nickelback that I was wondering how they were managing to put out so much new music.

I'll have to check and see if Rhapsody has it available tonight. Definitely interested in checking it out.

I'm digging the new STP song that's out too. Scott Weilands hasn't skipped a beat in his vocals. If anything he almost sounds younger in their new single.

Sounded pretty good on leno last night. I thought it looked like the guy from wolfmother...

What is this STP song that you speak of??

Checking out the album on Rhapsody. I really dig it. And that's on the first listen through. Normally it takes a few listens for an album to start to really work for me.

And the track with Fergie rocks. The girls real calling is sluty...errr sultry rock chick. That song is just fun.

I know, I can't believe that is her.

I agree with vi edit, the the Fergie track (Beautiful Dangerous) is quite good. I also enjoy the two tracks with Myles Kennedy (who is going on the tour I believe), as well as the tracks with Chris Cornell and Ian Astbury.

Good album overall with some very good tracks. It's not Appetite For Destruction, but I don't think that's what Slash was going for.

I hope Velvet Revolver finds a new singer and gets back in studio soon.

I had to look up who Myles Kennedy was...and I agree. He had great songs. I also really enjoyed the Dave Grohl & Duff McKagen track. Just a good old hard rock instrumental jam session.

These albums are some of my favorites. It fits right in with Probot(Grohl) & Tommy Iommi's guest singer format. Each song has it's own character and style. Just a great mixup and alternative to traditional albums.

And holy crap...how is Iggy Pop still alive? Dude is pushing 65 and he's still ticking after decades of physical and who know what other sort of other abuses.

Damn.

IIRC, I read somewhere that back in the 90's, the record company tried to get him to do a true solo album with a bunch of guest vocalists, but he didn't want to, wanted to do the Snakepit stuff instead. I guess things have changed.

Just found out about it a couple days ago and have listened to a few tracks. It's not too bad so far.

I listened to it last night and liked it quite a bit overall. Agree with someone else that said they're tired of what passes for good rock music these days, and it's refreshing when people/bands from the past come back with a new album that blows it all away. This and Megadeth's recent album are good examples.

i saw Velvet Revolver a couple summers ago and then STP last fall.... Weiland rocked... Slash stole the show @ VR but Weiland was amazing @ STP...

i'm a big fan of Slash... everyone should read the book, it's pretty decent. I will be checking this out for SURE. caught the track with M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold... decent sounding tune.

Slash is awesome. One of my fave guitar players. Shame his face is plastered all over the place these days for endorsements, but a guy's gotta make money.

good album, have been listening to it more since Friday.

Starlight and By The Sword are my favs.

Apparently Slash is going to tour with Myles Kennedy... that guy has some wicked vocals. I'll try to catch them if they do a show near Detroit.
