Slash is overrated!

People make a huge deal out of Slash (the guitarist). I'm a big GNR fan and all, I think he's a solid, really good guitarist. But he ain't a guitar god by a looooooong stretch. People talk about him as if he was Satriani or something. He can't stand in Satch's (or anyone in that leagues) shadow! JMO.
 
Nah, Slash has even admitted that technically he is not that good a guitar player. I think it's the image and attitude that made him such an intregal part of GNR. He sure is a hell of alot better than that Buckethead freak they have now.
 
I think he's a better guitarist than Satriani just because he adds some kind of emotion to the stuff he does. Satriani is too much technique and not enough soul for my tastes.

I also don't know who these people are that have told you he's a guitar god. I've never heard anyone say that before.
 
It's just a way to try and quantify contemporary guitarists as opposed to the greats like slowhand, santana, hendrix, SRV....
 
I think that Slash is one of the best guitar players out there IMHO. He's got such a unique style and you can tell he's just not playing scales or playing fast just to play fast and impress people. Play Sweet Child O Mine or Estranged and tell me that Slash is not a great guitar player. I'm not saying that Sach and Vai are not guitar gods but they are more technical and not as emotional as Slash.

Satch and Vai are completely different players. Whoever thinks that Satch doesn't play with emotion is listening to the wrong stuff.
