you should have gone for an open palm strike to disorient him, followed up with a knee to his nuts and/or face. much safer for you.

That is a classic "boxers fracture". Have fun in surgery.

actually, classic 'boxer's fracture' = 5th metacarpal... not 4th.

either way, he's probably not going to need surgery for it.

already been to the doc. surgery is scheduled for friday but i'm canceling it due to not having the money to pay my deductible. was going to put a pin in it.

don't really know what i'm going to do. my brother has a small concussion on the back of his head. he will be ok.

sorry for typos, trying to type with 6 fingers.

the swelling has gone down but it still looks like a potato.

yeah, i didn't read carefully enough... you clearly said surgery on friday in the op. my mistake.

did the bone break the skin? if not, i don't see why they can't traction it and set the bone in a cast...

the doc said a cast/splint probably won't work because the bones arch. that's what i got out of it at least. he was scared the pressure might be too much that a cast won't hold it in place compared to pins/wire.

mine held fine in a cast...

yours was a clean break, too... mine had fragments around the break.

maybe because it's the 4th metacarpal and not the 5th... *shrug*...

fyi: all the bones in the hand arc.

Any police involved? A court judgement against the brass knucklehead should take care of the insurance deductable.
