Slackware - connecting an external monitor

hi,
I am running Slackware 9.1 on my Sony Vaio GRZ-630. I want to connect and external LCD monitor to my laptop. There is a special function key to activate an external monitor which works in windows. Can anyone tell me how this can be done in Linux as the key combination is not recognized in Linux.

Check out here and see if you can find a computer with a similar configuration.

Otherwise I have no idea what to do for your laptop. I don't know anything about it.

If it is one of those intel graphic blaster extremes (or some such nonscence) then you probably going to have a hard time getting tv-out to work. That's what I in my laptop, a intel 855gm-based laptop actually.
