Slackware 9 suddenly doesn't want to get an IP from my router..

I had no problems at all with my new linux box grabbing an IP from my linksys router's DHCP server when I first put it together/installed.. but then I disconnected everything, moved the computer to a desk, reconnected.. and now my linux box just times the connection out when it tries to get a response from the DHCP server.. all the cables are hooked up and I can even see the lights on my router flashing when it's trying.. it just doesn't seem to want to work anymore.. anyone know why this could happen ?
