SL6Z5: how high does your o/c and where'd you get it?

hi,

I'm thinking about getting an SL6Z5 2.8C P4 and want to know what sort of performance people are getting out of theirs. I currently am running a SL6Z3 2.4C at 3.4GHz w/HT at 1.6Vcore which will do 3.5GHz without HT. I'd like to know if I stand a decent chance of getting at least 3.5-3.6GHz w/HT with an SL6Z5 on my P4C800-E, since I'd prolly have an easier time of finding a 2.8C which will do these speeds rather than a 2.4C (pure speculation, but I've always been a decent guesser:D).

Also, where/when did you get it? What's the FPO/BATCH#?

Thanks for your time;),

Erik

It's all luck of the draw. Happy New Year! :)

(Damnit, now I'm looking for these 2.8s at my local outlets).

I don't think it's going any higher than 3.5g stable. It memtests fine, but errors in prime95 in less than 30 minutes. I've gamed for about an hour, and looped 3dMark03 a little while, without locking up at all though. I'm pretty happy with it as of yet. My goal was 3.4g stable (24hr p95) running 1:1 (7-4-4-2.5). I've backed the timings off to 8-4-4-3, but it makes no difference in p95. CPU temps are only hitting 42C loaded while priming.

If anyone is still looking for these I ordered a 2.8C for $183 off ZZF last week and it was a SL6Z5 (although it came broken...3 pins missing, others bent, so i had to RMA it :( )

Well there are a few bad apples :( Most of the SL6Z5's i've seen hit 3.5 and up

Hopefully ZZF gives me back a SL6Z5

Still can't believe my cpu came broken :\

I'd think the 2.8C @ 3.3 would be better than the 2.4b @ 3.4 although the 2.4b might have a better price/performance ratio. If you still have the 2.8C i'd use it over the 2.4b.

nope,
clock for clock the 2.4b is only a hair slower then the 2.8c.
at certain speeds the 2.4b is actually faster due to the 2.8c needing to drop a mem ratio.

the 2.4b doesnt have HT, but since i dont use a HT capable OS it doesnt really matter to me.
i already sold the 2.8c.

But most people do use a HT capable OS. You gotta realize, you are un the minority running Win98. HT makes a BIG difference. That 3360 MHz with HT would smoke the 2.4B @ 3.4 - 3.5 when used with a proper OS.
