Im trying to O/C a barton 2500+ but cant get over 166FSB. You can read more of my problems in the O/C for more details.
Anyways in my book it shows JP2 (1-2) being Auto detect 100/133. Then on the same jumper its hows you can switch it to (2-3) for 166Mhz. My board came with it being (1-2) shoing from the book 100/133 settings. Should it be changed to (2-3) for 166FSB+ setttings? In my bios now I can change it to expert mode and still see all the higher FSB settings but of course cant seem to go over 166FSB without it not booting up!

Thanks!

Personally I 've never seen any evidence that the 166fsb setting affects overclockability or stability at all. I've experimented with it on the FRN and MRN and it had zero impact. Besides, I've found that having it set to the 100/133fsb setting is the best for recovering after a failed overclock since it can set the fsb back to 100mhz when holdiing the insert key, and is exactly what nVidia wanted included from the reference design as I understand it.

Thanks DAPUNISHER I just wanted to double/triple check this jumper. I'll leave it be then.

NEWKILLA I FEEL your plain!! The white flag is looking good here but not giving up. Hoping someone can help me make this pain go AWAY! :)

Thats the only thing I can think of is one of the slots being a dud or holding me back. I even went as far as sending my Cosair memory back also and have 2 new sticks on the way and should arrive Thursday.

Thanks and if you have any suggestions please post it!!

Buckmaster--i have it set for auto detect 1-2 closed----cpu multi on default,

i have 512 corsair in the first Dimm, and im inching up the FSB---@173 now = 2.25 ghz

not bad outa a lil 2100+, this as stable as this thing gets oh yea 1.75 on the voltage

and im running at or about 37 C, i think you have the newer chipset so you should be able to push on,

i am using this as my game server and inching up the voltage made all the madness(errors) go away

i am soo tempted just to order an abit or epox and drop my stuff in and go right to the 200fsb

im so stubborn

KILLA my friend, we have the latest CPGeek bioses for the 75FRN series right here. Do not trust Sandra to tell you anything, I would use WCPUID or Cpu-Z to see the FSB. Remember you can pump the vdd to 1.8 which will get you over 400DDR synch mode no problemo. If that doesn't get you where you want to go time for the NF7-S :)

BuckMaster my man, if the suggestions from the other thread don't straihghten you out then sell it and get the NF7-S :)

OK

SOLTEK = :evil:

just for shiots and giggles i set the multi to 12 and fsb to 180

and boom- boots up no problem--running fine

it is possessed--180 doesn t sound like much but this thing

wouldn t budge past 166 stable--now whats better

now it says 2400+ where before it said 2700+

im so confused,LoL

I used cpuid and it said 180 fsb 2164mhz

NEWKILLA I have a program to make bootable disk for bios's. If you would like a copy LMK. It will format a floppy then you just copy the BIOS files to the floppy and boot from it. BTW check out my lastest update in the OCing section! :)
