Hi folks...

This is regarding an oooooold motherboard that I'm hoping someone can help with...

It's a San-Li SL-586VL... ran on the old intel vx chipset... it has for memory 4 slots for edo simms and one dimm slot.

What I'm trying to remember is what memory limitations were on the single dimm slot.

This is an old mb of mine that I have sent to my mother who lives in a different city. I'll be going up to see her and upgrade her memory (she's only got 32 megs) next week... what I'd like to do is take a single 64 meg dimm with me, but I can't for the life of me find the manual to that board (I knew I'd be doing most of the tech support for her so I kept the manual, or so I thought).

Can anyone answer that one for me? Unfortunately, SanLi has gone toots-up and no longer has a website that I can find.

Thanx,
Wade

I'd try and find the web site. From the part number, it looks like it's gonna be one of those motherboards that may need a bios upgrade to handle 64MB DIMM's (if it takes DIMM's and not SIMM's). There used to be a site that you could goto with the bios information sting(in the lower left corner at bootup) and they'd link you to a web site for the manufacturer. Sorry but I can't remember what the address is for the site.

Unfortunately, SanLi no longer exists, and the website is defunct. I'm hoping that *someone* who reads this has one of these boards or a manual and can tell me what kind of dimms this beast can take.
