Skype (for desktop) auto-corrects while typing in Win8?

I just got an AIO with Windows 8, and the Skype that came pre-installed was the "Modern" version, and that one claimed I needed an MS ID to use it (couldn't just use my Skype login, stupid).

So I installed Skype for Desktop, (SkypeInstallFull.exe), and when I'm using it, it auto-corrects what I type.

For example, I type "skype", it auto-corrects it to "Skype". (Interestingly, there's a red line under "skype", but not under "Skype", as I type this in Waterfox. Could my default browser be doing this? Does Skype use web-browser functionality for the chat feature?

I couldn't find any setting under my Skype options to disable this auto-correct crap.

Anyone else have this problem?

It doesn't have the option, in Desktop Skype, but it still auto-corrects. Annoying as heck.

When I started Modern Skype, before I installed Desktop Skype, it asked specifically for a "Microsoft ID". Not a Skype ID. I didn't try typing mine in.

Hmmm. I just checked now on the download link - and ran the installer. My version turned out to be still 6.14.0.104.

But, I would try to uninstall the desktop Skype and redownload it. You should be seeing SkypeSetup.exe
