Skyline Chilli, good or not?

QueBert

Lifer
I love Chili Con Carne, I found a web site for a restruant in the mid west called Skyline I eat chili without beans, onions or any of the chunk crap. They'll ship the chili, but you gotta buy like 6+ cans. I wanna hear from somebody who's eaten there.

is the chili thick? For anyone who's had Tommy's in Cali, that is the type of Chili I'm looking for. This Skyline looks mighty delicious to me 🙂

Skyline is AWESOME! It's a thinner chili and goes great on hot dogs, spagetti, by itself w/ cheese, it is very good. If you want to try the "style" yourself, look up "Cincinatti Style Chili" on google....very good stuff.

thinner? ugh I like THICK chili, like paste. But, if the flavor is good I want to try it. I suppose I can order 6 cans, at worse I won't love it, but I'm sure I can manage to stomach it on some dogs, fries, and in a potato 😀

The local supermarket chain, in S.FL, Publix, carries skyline chili in the frozen food section. You might want to check out the frozen food sections at your local stores... I've never had the canned variety, but, same stuff supposedly.

This is the suggestion I was going to give - Kroger (and Kroger owned supermarket chains) usually have it since it's a Cincy export and Kroger is a Cincy company.

It's OK, nothing spectacular on hot dogs (I'm a Tony Packo's Chili man myself). It's very good with pasta as a nice change of pace from traditional sauces.

Edit: Just tried the store-locator on Kroger.com, there's a Ralphs near your town and a Food 4 Less - both are owned by Kroger and may stock it.

i'm not a chili person myself, but i was in cincinnati awhile back, and the people i was there with all had it and said it was awesome.

I have a lot of friends from "The 'Natty" and they all love it. My friends who aren't from that area are split on it - but I think if you're from Cincinnati they'll kick you out if you don't like Skyline 😀

The price per can is probably about right - I don't really like the chili enough to buy it frequently but it seems like it was around $4/can.

Skyline Chili is not what most people clal Chili. It's basicallt spaghetti noodles, sause, cheese, etc. Totally not what most people tink of when they think of Chili.

But to answer the question, I thought it was OK when I was there a couple months ago. And it's not really a Midwest thing... More of a Cincinnati thing...
