Skylake heatsink question

Hello all. Was contemplating my next cpu/ram/mobo upgrade and while talking to a buddy about it I mentioned I intended to reuse my d-14 as it has performed very well for past 6 years.

He told me he has seen skylake warp with heavy heatsinks. And that I should go watercooling if I want too obtain similar performance of my d-14.

My question is, is that true?

No, it's not true.

Skylake heatsink specs are the same as for Haswell.

Don't exceed the mounting pressure spec and don't drop/jolt your case and you should be fine. A couple of people who didn't know what they were doing and managed to warp their CPUs doesn't mean you can't use a big air cooler with a skylake system.

Yeah,you're fine.
Your Noctua NH-D14 uses spring tension to ensure proper mounting pressure is placed on the cpu.
The NH-D14 has mounting screws that "bottom out" and can't be "over-tightened", so it's the spring tension on the mounting screws that ensure proper mounting pressure that is within tolerance.
Skylake CPU can get damaged from Cooler mounting pressure

EDIT: I guess I should mention that I have a 6700k and I'm using a Noctua NH-D14 and have had zero issues.

Thanks guys, i figured intel would be smart enough to make their overclocking oriented chips(k series) be able to be used with high end air coolers, but you never know in this day and age whats going to happen.
