You're a crazy person!

Seriously though, my uncle skydives all the time. So do a few friends of mine. The most dangerous part is driving to the airport.

I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, once... for the LAST time. My GF at the time was getting into it so I thought I'd try to see what she liked about it.

It was fantastic, and I'll NEVER do it again. I found out why people do it... It's for the rush.

I also stood up in front of seven or eight thousand people with just my guitar and my performing partner and his guitar and knocked down the audience with our songs. Nailing a live performance is the same rush. If you blow it in front of thousands of people, you can die just as bad as if your chute fails, but you live to tell about it! It's a spiritual death, instead of your body, but the good thing is, you get to try again.

OTOH, there are no second chances if your chute fails. :Q You don't have to put the entirty of your physical being on the line just for a rush. There's always another one somewhere else that won't kill you if things go wrong.

Backup chute!

Half of the greatness of skydiving is getting to tell people how you did it and their reactions of how crazy you are...the reason being they are too much of a wuss for it and you did it :)

I did it once because I'd always wanted to. It was awesome, but no terrible urge to do it again any time soon. I can't recommend the experience enough!

I jumped tandem. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I highly recommend it. I will do it again one day.

That is pretty much my opinion of it too. I am planning on doing it for my 18th birthday, but I doubt Ill do it any more after that.

I'll do it someday. Tandem the first time for sure, but would also like to try solo at least once.

I've done it. When I was in college my roomate was ROTC and was planning on going to jump school. He didn't want to go in cold, so a bunch of us went to the local airport to try it out. They had great cheapo deals to cater to us college morons that wanted to try it, so it wasn't really too expensive for the day, but doing it for real would have been far beyond the means of a broke student. I'm glad I went, it's a rite of passage and a severe gut check to get yourself to leave a perfectly good airplane, but no real desire to keep doing it after that. If you get a chance and can afford it, I recommend trying it. It's one of those things that if you get to be 60 and have never done it, you'll likely regret it. It's pretty safe and freefall is great.

It's pretty safe, but that isn't true. Same thing is said for general aviation, which has a fatality rate about the same as driving motorcycles.

I've done it once. I still remember the day....August 10, 1996. I just graduated Paramedic school and that was a gift to myself, along with a 1997 GMC ext cab....hehe. I can't even describe the experience. It was fvcking GREAT!!!! I would love to go again.
