Skipping when recording a stream..need help fast.

Ok, I thought it was my cd burner but it isnt. When I stream a set and record it with Creative recorder I get skips every once in a while. Any idea of what causes this? I have 128meg of ram, athlon 800, creative sbl xgamer, win98.
