Looks like Misfits isn't on Netflix :(

Downloading S1

I just watched through 2 seasons of Misfits. Not at all what I expected it to be about but it was amusing and entertaining to watch. I just wish these shows had seasons longer than 6-7 episodes. :(

Still loving this show. I try to get an episode or two in before bed (hard show to watch with two little kids). I've gotten a few other friends hooked too.

Misfits will be next.

I will admit I will give the US version of Skins a run too... if for nothing else but to compare/contrast. I doubt the US version will be good, but it will be a hit. I will guarantee that.

Misfits is awesome, after you've finished that watch The Inbetweeners, you won't be disappointed ;)

So is this really good, or is it mostly teeny drama (meaning worthless problems and BS) mixed with nudity and the occasional clever dialogue?

I would check it out if I get a reputable guarantee that this isn't about "teen problems."

lol.

Wait, isn't MTV doing an American version of this? Looks kind of stupid, but I'm sure that's only because MTV is doing it.

Yeah it is but it's incredibly witty and clever.

It's "teen problems" but its not like US shows. Hard to qualify and/or quantify it. It WAY more harsh and "dramatic" (not teenage-angst dramatic) than your normal US Teenager show.

Thanks to this thread plus a reminder due to the US launch, I started watching the UK Skins yesterday. I am about 1/2 way through Season 1 Episode 1. Yeah, I know. That's only 30 minutes but I was busy cooking. Anyway, definitely looks interestingly. It's sort of like Californication with characters half as old and in the UK. I say this because I am a fan of Californication but it's so unbelievable how crazy Duchovny's character's life is on that show.

30mins in? Man you haven't seen ANYTHING yet. Their lives get a shit-ton more crazy.

Yeah I watched all the episodes. Even learned new terms in that show like: chav and slag. I really like the Irish guy he kept me laughing through the show. Also first show I can think of with a person that has an accent as thick as Kelly's, and yes I know they get worse. Apart from Kelly (whom I just cant find attractive) I'd say this show has a rather attractive cast

Can't believe you've never heard chav or slag before! I hate chavs. Fuckers. Yeah I loved it, Irish guy was awesome. I though Kelly was attractive when you get to know her even though she's not physically attractive. You should try living in essex where that accent is everywhere.

Can't wait to see what happens next series!

Well those 2 words are sort of specific to the area and most of the shows I've watched haven't used a lot of slang like that.

Interesting, the word "slag" is quite well engrained into English culture, as is Chav, I'm sure if you watch any UK program of recent years you'll spot one or both of them at some point.

Probably so I may not have noticed. Slag could be used here, but quite unlikely as I suspect few would even know what it mean. Slut works fine. Chav is dealing with a certain area of English culture so it would have no meaning over here.

I disagree there are american chavs all over the place. We call them Chavs.

The episode I watched was about some kid not being a "man" (having sex) with this random girl. She engages and then he runs away. Then they all get drunk, start smoking and have sex.

Yeah, that was pretty much it.

I watched the entire first season of Misfits last night. I didn't like it as much as Skins, but it is very different, and still really good. Very enjoyable.

The Irish kid is hilarious. There were at least a few lines each episode that had me laughing pretty hard.

I watched the first ep of MTV's skins. Basically a near exact clone of the original pilot, except with a less engaging cast and over all not nearly as well done. To be expected really but I thought they might change it up a tad. Looks like next episode is taking some from the other seasons though but I won't watch to find out for sure.

Finally wrapped up season 2 now.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!!?! NOT CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say this show does an amazing job of somehow making you connect and feel for the characters. They are all fuck ups. But yet your heart really goes out to them. I've said it before, and I am sure I will say it again, the writing, acting and production is superb.

You know what sucks? Is when you get email subscriptions to threads and the "SPOILER" tags don't carry over into the email. So I read the email itself, and was like "GD IT!!! He just pout a spoiler in". I came here to bitch at you but then see that you in fact did tag it.

Gaaaaaaaaah NOT FREDDIE! He better not die or something... I can't take losing Chris AND Freddie!
(I have a few eps of season 3 left to go)

Yeah, that definitely saddened me and put a damper on the show for me. They seem to try and create some shocking end to each season. Season 3's end was less so in this department for me though.

UK Skins is weird ... about 7 episodes in and I don't know if I like it or not. It is a bit over the top it seems. Love how they call High School college...and college is university over there. Makes sense, but funny opposite for us.
