this is most likely old news to most of you oS hardcores, i always seem to be about 2 years behind everybody else.

i was reading that MS will rlease a slimmed down version of XP for older computers. I thought i would share as there a ton of whiners about how XP is too resource hungry. my computer is pretty fast, but i might consider it for my audio production OS (with a dual boot) as as much cpu power as possible is a good thing

My company tested skinnyXP for Real as part of that lawsuit....I didn't try it, but I need to reinstall my lappy, maybe I should try it out.

nevermind, it doesn't look to useful for purposes other than servers. I wish they would sell a distro of a new windows OS without any crap for enthusiests who don't want resource eating crap.

Or at least give you options to not install certain things like in linux installations. Just have a regular instal;lation like XP has now and then an advanced where you can configure a lot of things in the installation.
