Skin split on finger due to cold, dry weather

when i was young, my mom would put something she calls iodine (red stuff) on skin splits due to cold, dry weather.

i dont know the real name of it. it was basically A skin wound protectant and acted as an Antiseptic.

neosporene wears off after you wash your hands. i see the the iodine staying on, due to the fact that the wound is still covered in red stuff.

anything better than 'iodine' nowadays?

Bandaid with neosporin always helps when I have this problem.

lotion or something and bandaid. I've found that sometimes you gotta rip its sides off, too, or else the crevace never heals up. Just do it!

I would imagine iodine to hurt/sting badly if applied directly to cracks/cuts.

sounds like mecurichrome. I used to use that stuff all the time. now it's hard to find it. arg. Now I use rubbing alcohol on everything.

Superglue is very effective at keeping the wound sealed and preventing the crack from becoming larger.

Neosporin works well. Pretty much any moisturizer is a good preventive measure.

Used that stuff for years as a kid. Now it's rubbing alcohol cause that's all I have around.

Didn't sting at all. The alcohol is...unpleasant.

go into a pharmacy, the still sell iodine
