You can score free skin care samples from Sephora in the mall. A few tips that have worked for me:
1. Get a facial cleanser - usually in liquid form, though they have bars as well. They leave the "good oils" on your face, plus it doesn't make your skin feel all stipped of moisture like normal body soaps do.
2. Moisurizer - twice a day, preferably with a sunscreen built in. You can get Neutragena from Wal-Mart/Target etc. Also use on the neck and ears, since it helps decrease acne back there a bit (at least for me).
3. Benzyl Peroxide - expensive, but a prescription of Differin can help - use once a day
4. Try not to touch your face except in the shower and when applying the above creams/lotions
5. Get a day/night cream to use in addition to the above.
6. Facial Mask, twice a week
7. Facial scrub - use on your face, preferably before shaving. It'll help raise up hairs to make them easier to cut
8. Give the shaving cream time to soften up the hairs - 5-10 minutes is what I recommend. Also use a lifting brush (or even a toothbrush) to brush the hairs up straight to again make them easier to shave off.
Alternative to above is to use a separate moisturizer and sunscreen. "Hope in a Jar" seems to work better as a moisturizer than Nuetragena. I use Neutragena as the sunscreen because it's cheap until I have more cash coming into to experiment with more expensive sunscreens. Trust me, you will see a HUGE difference with higher-end stuff than what you can get at Target, Wal-Mart, etc, but ANYTHING is better than nothing.
M.D. Forte is glycolic acid based. I use the rejuvination lotion and a separate cream, the lotion for day and the cream for night. G acid helps clean the crap out of your pores.
I still have some acne issues, but I think it's a side-effect of way way WAY too much soda intake. Still, it's not as bad as it was and even my sister was shocked at how much better my skin looks.
