Skiing- How many layers in 20F weather?

JEDI

Lifer
base layer: moisture wicking thermal long sleeve shirt

mid layer: breatheable fleece (equivalent to Polartec 100)

outlayer: waterproof/windproof breatheable 3-in-1 ski jacket (shell + fleece). it's rated for -30F :Q This, of course, is BS!

so basically i'm wearing 4 layers (base, fleece, fleece, hard shell).

and i'm still cold when i'm not doing any actual skiing. (ie: standing on line for the lift. sitting on the lift)

what do u wear for skiing?

i've never went more than 4 layers.

is your whole body cold or just feet/hands?

When I was skiing the other weekend I was wearing 2 long sleeve running shirts (breathable), a fleece, and a North Face coat and I was fine. I had ski pants over my jeans as well. Also, this morning I was out running in the mid 20's wearing shorts, 3 light layers on my upper half, gloves and a hat. The gloves and hat came off after 2 miles because I was hot. So, I guess you are just cold blooded or you need to move more when you ski to keep your body temperature up.

I work outside in that temp.
Two layers on legs, three on torso, hard hat on my head.
Maybe you aren't skiing hard enough.

BTW, you can't dress yourself without help from OT but we are supposed to take your political beliefs (sig) seriously?
😕

When it's 20F I generally wear a t-shirt and light fleece jacket.

It's -17F with a -29F windchill here today and I'll be wearing a t-shirt and heavier fleece jacket with a beanie.

same. 20f i wear a shirt and light jacket and a hat.

today its -5 so i might break out the heavy coat (its been in the closet all year).

My body emits LOTS OF HEAT it's engaged in any activity.

When I snowboard, I freeze my ass off so I wear many layers. After few slopes, I find myself in just a T-shirt underneat the jacket.

I was at mont tremblant the other week, wore a tshirt+long sleeve shirt+sweater+2 layer jacket and was baking in it.
Maybe you should get off the bunny slope and into the black diamond runs, your legs will be on fire when your on the lift.
