That bike I originally posted about (EX500) is down to $800 for asking price now.

I'd like to look this bike over and see what is really wrong with it. You would imagine I could fix it for <$1k in repairs, but you guys are the judge. (Not sure where I'd get a new headlight assembly or even the new blinkers, TBH)

EDIT: Looking at http://www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oemparts/a/kaw/500b3a2ef8700223e4794e26/turn-signals and so forth.

It's looking like $100 for new front signals. $250 for new headlight. $100 for new mirrors. Front fairing? Forget about it and try to make do with it. (It's $650+) New carb assembly (entire thing) is $745 + shipping. I'm imagining I don't need to replace the whole damn thing... :|

We're looking at least $500 in repairs if I don't include fairings... Yeah, maybe I should skip it. 😛

do you know that the front turn signals are bad?
$250 is way too much for a headlight
try finding mirrors at a junkyard or get them from someone else who bought aftermarket ones
fairings are cosmetic (mostly)
what's wrong with the carbs? they can be rebuilt for cheaper than $750.

bikebandit.com is your friend for older bikes. they will likely have things for much cheaper than kawasaki

unless you KNOW these things are wrong, you're just making up potential maintenance in order to justify the purchase of a bike you probably shouldn't get (e.g. CBR600RR, turbo busa)

In my area you can get nice used ex500 for $1500-2000 so I don't see the point in spending that much and doing a lot of repair work on top of it.
