skagen watches....

Gibson486

Lifer
Any one here have one? I tried one on at the store today and my first thought was "this thing feels like plastic". I have never had a titanium watch, so maybe that is what it should feel like. Also, is the mesh band easy to break? Any experiences?

I have a couple of Seiko Titanium ones and they do not feel any bit like plastic. 🙂

I've had my skagen for a long time. It's just a pain trying to find somewhere to get the battery changed out.

I have the 433LSLB and the 355LGSC. I like them both very much but the leather strap on the 433LSLB is broken and the only way to replace it is to get it directly from Skagen for $10. The crystal also cracked a little and I think that costs $25 to replace from Skagen excluding shipping 🙁 It was really my fault since I banged it around quite a bit but as long as you take care of them they should be fine. The steel mesh is holding up much better though. I really like the sleek looks and would probably buy Skagen again just for that.

I've had my 205LTXW for about 6years now, love it to death but I need to change the battery. Also have a mesh band one and a leather one. Yeah, they feel very light weight compared to regular steel watches and make a different noise but they are durable. Reasonably priced, looks good (classy not geeky), durable, and the service is great.

I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of the mesh band though, they can bend (not easily but it happens) if you catch your watch on something.

I've owned several watches like that over the years, but I never had much luck. I now wear only mechanical watches, preferring this as my everyday watch. I have a few Swiss Army watches as well that have held up quite nicely over the years, but I tend not to wear them very often.

IMO, Lange makes some of the most beautiful and horologically valuable watches in the world. The Lange 1 is an incredible watch.

Sorry, I'm guessing that you're not looking for the information I provided.

You think it is worth having a few watches for different occasions? One good quality watch costs atleast $60, so i cannot imagine spending more on another watch. Even then, it is still gonna face problems with corroding in the future.

They are great watches. I have had two in the past. Just make sure the clips on the bands work because that was a problem with a mesh band one I had in the past. Other then that, they are great. Light weight and the glass is very hard and does not scratch easily.

I think it'd look much better if the whole thing was black.

Titanium should not have any corrosion problems, your hand would not be able to handle the kind of environment that titanium will corrode in (concentrated acid at high temp). Stuff like salt water, bleach and normal acids is no problem (I work in a lab so it's one thing I've considered).
