"size" difference between a 19 and 20 inch LCD?

I am trying to decide on a good and large 19 or 20 inch inch LCD panel 16ms or less. I seemed to have narrowed it down to two Viewsonic's the VP201B 20 inch for $1160CDN and the VP912b for $895CDN. Now the question is: by paying $300 inc tax more than the 19inch is it worth it? What am I gett for that 1/3 price increase? I know as LCD's go up in size they exponentially become more expensive to make. So how much more usable space are you getting by going up to a 20inch? What other benefits might I be getting? This monitor will be used 10 hours a day for MSoffice/Internet work and 2-3 hours of intense gaming.

Thanks all for your thoughts and opinions

The bigger one is a lesser monitor in brightness, contrast and responce time as well; though it does have an anti-glare screen. but as for the size, it isn't a whole lot more deskspace athough it is nice to have a proper 4:3 aspect ratio.

A great gaming monitor that a freind of mine has is the Dell 2001FP. It is a great monitor. There is even a review on tyhis site and it was in ther high ened buyers guide and would be great for gaming. My freind got it off ebay though for like $500 brand new and its retail price is around $1,000

For the extra money, you get a screen that is physically 10% larger and 46% more pixels. Staples.ca has the VP201S for $1099.95 plus you can use two coupons (if you can find them), which can take another $50 off. You could also apply for a Staples dividend card to get another $15 back.

Accord! Sweet info on the Staples.ca find I never thought to look there, I shall bring that to bestbuy and get them to beat it with 15% of the difference for another $45 Wahoo!!

KookDrew from what I have read of the Dell 2001FP it is not good for FPS gaming (response time is to slow) which is the type of gaming I mainly do, otherwise yes a very nice monitor.

Snowamn you didn't make it easier :)! Very valid points for both, I wish I knew if the much lower 250 cd/m2 compared to the 400cd/m2 was a large issue espescially for long term performance. I wish I could see the two side by side I have only seen the 20" in Bestbuy but with a crap signal split across 30 screens.

Naturr, as you've read, Staples has a pretty good deal on the VP201S. I bought one but returned it, I hated the screendoor on it. I also tried a Samsung 213T but the two I tried had a few dead pixels and the staples manager did not want me to take another one so refunded me. I bought 2 19" instead, BenQ FP937S from futuresho (10% off tonight!) for 810$ each, so far so good. MUCH better than the samsung and the VP201S in games and pretty good in text so far! (I've plugged it 10 minutes ago)

So I got it yesterday I have played UT 2004 and Doom 3 without a hint of ghosting. Image isn't quite as good when not running doom 3 in native mode of 1600x1200 BUT I am don't know how much of that is the monitor and how much is... well everything looks better in higher res! So gaming it is great! I am running my desktop at 1280x1024 opposed to the native and I can barely tell the difference in quality, but it is easier on the eyes. So pretty darn happy! Thanks all for your help and Accord for the heads up on Staples.

Update. Well after a week of using this LCD I am getting enough eye strain to bring it back :(. Great monitor in all other aspects oh except the USB hub is powered WTF was the idea behind that decision? I have even tried running it at 1280x1024 instead of the native of 1600x1200 with no luck. Alas if anyone has any insights as to what I could try I would love to hear them.
