Sixth man award is dumb

Congrats to Mike Miller, but the NBA's sixth man award is really dumb. Basically, it's like recognizing the best second best player at his position for the team he plays on.

Exactly. But hey, its cool to get an award even if you arent good enough to start.

True, but i think the whole point of this award is to recognize a player who is good enough to start, maybe just under different circumstances. Take Michael Finley for example, not always a starter now, but he used to be.

Mike Miller was the NBA rookie of the year. What a sad year that was.

you may have a point there..... It was probably originally a pity award.

Bench play can be critical to a teams success, so I do not see anything wrong with rewarding someone for contributing off the '2nd team'. It is nice to see a bench guy get recognition.

And yes I was the kid who brought enough candy for everyone in my elementary class so nobody felt left out :p

I was thinkint more that all the years between then and now were pretty sad. That guy's career has had some ups and downs, that's for sure.
