
6-year-old in custody after shooting teacher in Virginia, police chief says | CNN
A 6-year-old boy is in police custody after he shot a teacher at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia, Friday afternoon, Police Chief Steve Drew said in a news conference.
The parents of the child say that the handgun was secured yet the child managed to get that weapon past campus security even though it was already well known that the child had special needs and was a known threat to other students. It was claimed that the child's backpack was searched and the firearm "was not found" so I'm assuming the "search" was cursory and not as thorough as it should have been. Lots of questions to answer and lots of blame to go around.
