Wrong wrong and wrong, GWB and Ronald Reagan are in the lead in that category, GWB's transportation bill was overloaded with pork and earmarks.

Dear Lemon Law,

Today is March 4th, 2009. There is only one (1) United States President. His name is Barack Obama. Please feel free to come forward with any other inquiries if you are still confused.

Thank You,

So basically R presidents get a pass for all their shortcomings and D's get blamed... Typical OCguy. Everything bad that happens is the dems fault. Its getting really old. Try some critical thinking on your own for a change.

Before you post back with some inane comment about the CURRENT president, we all know what you meant by that... The issue is that every post you make, every comment, every day ignores all the bad that the reps do and exaggerates the dems negative. You are so one sided its sickening.

Obama had actually promised to reform the earmark process and cut wasteful spending, not eliminate earmarks altogether.

This was fact checked by BOTH PolitiFact and Fact Check when John McCain lied about it (unchallenged by the cable news networks at the time) during the campaign. It was reiterated again by PolitiFact after a New York Times article repeated the lie.

nearly 9000 earmarks in his budget is a piss poor way to begin reform.

The democrats have the legislative and executive branches now. So yes, any legislation that does this country harm is going to be pinned on the (D)s.

Hopefully this will all change in 2010 ;)

So all the BS that went down from 2000-2006 was who's fault? Come on, you can say it... Be brave. I will do you one up... I will say something negative about hte dems and something positive about reps.

I really like the old republican concept of business freindly low taxes, small govt, and the govt. staying out of private lives.

I really hate pretty much anything and everything Pelosi and Reid do.

Can you do the same in reverse? I just want to see you do it, just this once. =)

If you think I'm strictly down party lines on every issue, you havent read many of my posts.

If something is carrying over from the Bush administration, that wouldnt be Obama's fault. But that massive sh*t package and continued bailouts of banks are all on Obama. Just because he is reacting to something that started before Feb 2009, doesnt mean his reactions can't be wrong.

Well, I have been back and forth with you on a lot of threads here, especially lately and have never seen you say anything that wasnt pure "party line" , even when specifically asked to like I just did, so.... Whatever.

Agreed, I think too much spending for Obama as well, but he is at least trying. The alternative to do nothing will cause the whole banking system to collapse, which will defintely cause a new "Great" depression, making the old one look like a cake walk. At least this way, we turn massive depression to just a recession.

We are only delaying the inevitable. We are not going to spend our way out of this with Chinese money. They are going to cut us off, or even worse call in their notes. Then you will see what a depression looks like.

Many are, if you were to do a google for some of the more outragous pork in the budget, its fun to look at.
Many others while perhaps debateable, one must ask why should Uncle Sam pay for that?

For instance Alabama gets $820,000 earmark to map the genes of Catfish (REP pork)
Now while that may be a good thing for the people of Alabama who own catfish farms, why should the people of New York be asked to help pay for it?
That money should be raised at the state level, not attached to a federal budget.

This. The flaw here is that the author assumes that all earmarks are automatically pork. This is not the case. But I guess it sells newspapers.

"Omigosh, fruit flies?"

That said, I don't know whether the catfish is intended to be a model organism for a specific area of biology, as is true for bacteria, yeast, mice, rats, zebrafish, virtually all domesticated animals, and, yes, fruit flies...but I wouldn't be so quick to write it off as being a small-minded project which will only benefit aquaculture.

Agreed that will be a problem, but not likely depression. Picture this... 2010, 2012, whenever really, say the Chinese come in and say, I want my 2 trillion (prolly more by then) dollars back. We dont have it... Period, we dont have it. If we do somehow liquify 2 trillion and pay them off, it will plunge us into depression, and then no-one will be buying all those wonderfully cheap chinese made product, sending them into depression.

Its a symbiotic relationship now. Our fates and economy is to closely linked. We need each other.

Whatever though, we do need (and I do expect it will happen eventually) to balance our budget.
