I started working for a new company back in January with every intention -not- to stay in the same position. I just wanted to get in the company so I took another position to get my foot in the door. My question do you guys think it looks bad that after 6 months I want to start looking for another job, but within the same company? I don't want to leave the company at all, I just want to go down a different career path (this was my original intention). Suggestions?

I wouldn't think it would look bad. Make sure you read your handbook to see if there is any mention of tenure requirements for job transfer. We currently have a 6-month minimum before eligibility.

Not at all. Career advancement starts with initiative.

Ok sweet. That's what I figured. They have a 6 month requirement before applying for transfer for another position within the company and my 6 months will be mid-July. I figure I'd start looking now being close to the end of June.
