I got in on the last Burger/Steak/Cheesecake hot deal from HSN, and I was REALLY disappointed.

The "Seasoned Steaks" were some of the worst cuts of meat I've ever had the misfortune of grilling. They were salty, tough, and downright distasteful with a chemical "tenderizer" flavor throughout.

The micro-sized Cheesecake had a distinct "fish" taste to the crust (while the filling was fine).

The burgers were the high point in the shipment. Mighty fine burgers, but nothing you couldn't find locally for less.

I'd never order steaks from them again, unless it was free and I needed the dry ice. :):(:disgust:

the knife set is pretty cheap. if its the same set an old roommate got.

some dude claiming to be from k-mart approached me at taco bell trying to sell me that set for $20, along with some pooh stuff... might have been from kmart, had a wireless credit card thing.

Ditto on the crappy service from Omaha Steaks....They totally messed up 2 orders of mine from last week,
they were rude and disrespectful, and screwed up my order (and most imporantly) the price. I received
the order and luckily, what did I find inside??? A 100% Guarantee...."If you're not absolutely thrilled with your purchase for any
reason at all, we'll replace your purchase or refund your money.."
Well, I was definitely not pleased with the crappy customer service, so I called and they refunded my
money (less the hefty shipping charge of $9.95). And the meat???? Not bad, but definitely overpriced....

The recent screwup was from HSN, not directly from Omaha Steaks. They credited me back the shipping charge, no problem.

I've spent many hundreds of dollars with Omaha Steaks, and have absolutely no complaints. An order once arrived a day after they promised and they gave me 25% off. Very friendly people to deal with, and incredible steak.

Those bacon wrapped filets aren't really all that good of a price. Check your local meat market (if you happen to live in the Toledo, Ohio area {or even an hour or so away, its worth the drive} check out the House of Meats, their 6 oz bacon wrapped filets are $1.99 each, and the meat is fresh), you can usually get great deals there, plus the meat is fresh and you're dealing with local people

Omaha Steaks does have B&M locations. There is a local barbeque store (Barbecues Galore or something, I think) and there's an Omaha Steaks island in the store. I don't believe that the B&M has most of the deals that the mail order outfit has, BUT, there's no shipping and handling, which is somewhat expensive in this case. It might be very worthwhile for folks with a B&M nearby to print out a copy of the web deal and see if the B&M can do that for you. I haven't tried this myself, but if they can, then you'd save shipping (but add sales tax).

I bought some filets from their B&M, and they were good, but too expensive. Grocery stores nearby carry "Certified Angus Beef" at their butcher counter that is almost as good, at a significantly lower cost.

ok..i never tried one wbut whats up with bacon-wrapped filets?
a gimmick or what?...so the bacon oil kinda cooks the steak right?...
do u eat the bacon slice too or remove it before eating the steak?..
for steak that i cook myself...i usually buy thin-sliced NY steak thats it.

bacon-wrapped is tasty. i think the meat they use is usually more tender, or the bacon adds something to it. anyhow, bacon is great on its own too. bacon. mmmm
